Ukrainian military used a flying Kalashnikov assault rifle against Russian invaders for the first time.
This was reported by the German publication Bild.
Such a weapon was put into service by the Ukrainian Armed Forces by a group of Ukrainian engineers called Wild Hornets. The AK-47 assault rifle was mounted on a platform with four propellers and lifted into the air like a flying drone. In mid-August, such a complex attacked Russian troop positions for the first time, the publication notes.
It is noted that such a flying machine can be controlled from a protected position several kilometers away from the operator.
BILD expert Julian Repke notes that the most difficult thing in such a development is to stabilize the AK-47 during firing so that the drone does not deviate due to recoil and there is not a large spread.
It is still unclear how effective such weapons are, whether they will be put into serial production and in what volume, the publication adds.
