The Office of the Prosecutor General has started an investigation into the possible killing by the occupiers of three Ukrainian prisoners of war in the Pokrovsky district of the Donetsk region. The press service of the UCP reported this on Friday, September 6.
According to preliminary data, at noon on August 27, the Russians launched an attack using a UAV on one of the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Pokrovsky district. An incendiary munition dropped on the shelter by the Ukrainian defenders caused a fire.
Inhabitants overcame the burning position on three sides and in a further military clash, one of four military personnel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was seriously wounded. His brothers, surrounded and under the strict control of the enemy, were forced to surrender.
The servicemen came out of the damaged shelter and knelt behind their heads. At this time, Russian attack vehicles opened fire on them. Regarding the further fate of the wounded, the data is clarified.
Several investigative actions are being carried out aimed at establishing all the circumstances of this event.

“Currently, an investigation is underway into the possible execution of 73 of our prisoners of war by the Russian military. We are recording more and more cases – when the aggressor shows disrespect for the norms of international humanitarian law. We will not stop until every war criminal is punished,” – stressed Prosecutor General Andrei Kostin.
The killing of prisoners of war is a violation of the Geneva Conventions and is classified as a serious international crime.
