New Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga has promised to “radically” change the government’s policy towards Ukrainians abroad.
According to the new Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andriy Sibiha, the policy towards Ukrainians abroad will change. He said this on Thursday, September 5, in the Verkhovna Rada before voting for his candidacy.
He noted that there are now more than 7.5 million Ukrainians abroad and said that the provision of consular services will be “simplified as much as possible.”
Sibiga emphasized that the first steps in this direction have been taken and clarified that the e-Consul system is in question.
“Let us play the role of leadership in ensuring all the necessary legal rights of our citizens abroad, clearly understanding the needs of our citizens there provision,” he said.
On September 5, the Verkhovna Rada appointed First Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Sibiga as the head of the Foreign Ministry in place of Dmitry Kuleba, who the previous day had written a letter of resignation and had been dismissed earlier in the day that. Sibiga’s candidacy was officially nominated by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
According to media reports, Zelensky’s relationship with Dmitry Kuleba began to deteriorate since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in 2022.
