Canada said it was destroying all its supplies of the vaccine against the Omicron strain of HCV. CBC News wrote this on Wednesday, September 4, citing a statement by a spokesperson for the Ontario Ministry of Health.
“Health Canada has directed all provinces to implement practices and processes for the acquisition and destruction of all existing XBB vaccine stocks effective September 1, 2024,” the spokesperson said.
It is known that in exchange for those that were destroyed, the provinces will soon receive an updated vaccine of the COVID-19 strain that is currently spreading in the country.
“Ontario and other provinces are expected to receive supplies from Health Canada in October,” the spokesperson said.
CBC News recalls that the Omicron strain was first discovered in late 2021. Since then, it is still circulating the world, with some changes.
