The White House believes that ATACMS missiles cannot reach the airfields where 90% of the bombing aircraft are based.
The United States believes that ATACMS cannot hit Russian aircraft, as it is based outside the range of these missiles. John Kirby, Coordinator for Strategic Communications of the US National Security Council, said this in a briefing on Wednesday, September 4.
“The idea that if we give Ukraine long-range ATACMs that they will be able to hit the air bases and most of the aircraft that are attacking Ukraine is wrong,” Kirby said.
According to him, 90% of the bombing aircraft are based outside the 300 kilometer zone from the borders of Ukraine.
Let’s remember that Ukraine has long been asking the United States to allow the use of ATACMS ballistic missiles to attack military airfields on Russian territory.
Last chance: when will the US give permission for strikes deep into the Russian Federation?
