The Russian attack reflects Putin’s desire to “punish the Ukrainians for their struggle,” said White House adviser John Kirby.
The Russian missile attack on Poltava is “another terrible reminder of the scale of Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s brutality against the people of Ukraine.” This is what White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby said, Voice of America reports.
He said the actions show Putin’s desire to “punish the Ukrainians for their struggle” by attacking critical infrastructure and making life more difficult for civilians.
Kirby noted that US President Joe Biden made it clear that US support for Ukraine remains strong and “we continue to focus on strengthening its military and air defenses against such attacks.”
“As you have seen, just 10 days ago we announced another package of military aid, which included ammunition for HIMARS systems, equipment for combating drones, ammunition, Javelin, anti -tank, and in the coming weeks there will be more,” the White House adviser said.
Let’s remember that on September 3, the Russians attacked Poltava, preliminary, with two Iskander-M ballistic missiles. The enemy entered an educational institution and a hospital. One of the buildings of the Institute of Communications, a hospital and nearby houses were partially destroyed.
Currently, 51 people are known to have died and over 200 have been injured. Three days of mourning were declared in the Poltava region.
