Prosecutors charged the couple with murdering two women and kidnapping a child in Baden-Württemberg.
Based on the results of the investigation, the Mannheim city prosecutor’s office charged the couple on suspicion of the joint murder of two Ukrainian women and the kidnapping of a child in Baden-Württemberg. The press service of the department reported this on Tuesday, September 3.
The prerequisite for the crime was the couple’s unfulfilled desire to have a common child, as a result of which they “no later than March 2023” began to develop a plan to “steal a newborn baby girl and pass it off as their own.”
According to the prosecutor’s office, the two defendants killed a 51-year-old Ukrainian refugee and a 27-year-old woman in childbirth to kidnap a newborn child.
The defendants decided to kill the 27-year-old and her mother a week after the child was born in February 2024, the indictment said. According to him, on March 6, while visiting a restaurant, the couple “secretly injected” the two women with a sedative. They then pretended that the 51-year-old woman was being taken to the hospital, while the 27-year-old woman and her newborn daughter were taken home.
The man apparently killed the 51-year-old woman by hitting her in the head several times with an unknown object. Some time later, he also killed a 27-year-old woman in the same manner and burned the body. After that, the couple went home with the child.
The accused are in custody. They were charged with two counts of common murder and one count of kidnapping a minor.
As reported, in Germany, a passer-by discovered the body of a woman with signs of a violent death. The person killed was a 27-year-old refugee from Ukraine, who gave birth to a child a month ago. She lost her baby and mother. About 60 law enforcement officers investigated the case and brought in service dogs.
Polish police are investigating the death of a four-year-old boy from Ukraine. The child’s body was discovered on March 11.
