The Senate (upper house of parliament) of Romania today, September 2, adopted a government bill on the transfer of the Patriot air defense system to Ukraine.
The corresponding decision was supported by 101 senators, 13 were against, and two abstained, the Romanian news agency Agerpres reports.
By the end of this week, the bill is planned to be submitted to the lower house of the Romanian parliament – the Chamber of Deputies. After its positive vote, the government will be able to decide on the prompt transfer of the anti-aircraft missile system.
The head of the Senate Defense Committee, Nicoleta, stressed that the transfer of Patriot to Ukraine will not leave Romania without protection, since the country “has seven more such systems.”
