In Donetsk region, rescuers have been taming a large forest fire for the second day already.
The State Emergency Service press service reported this.
On September 1, a large forest fire broke out in the territory of the National Nature Park “Svyatye Gory”, – the department noted. – Dry weather and strong gusty winds led to the rapid spread of the fire over large areas. Firefighting is complicated by the contamination of the forest territory with explosive objects.
It is noted that significant forces and resources are involved in fighting the fire. Aerial reconnaissance is also being carried out, and park employees are creating mineralized strips to stop the spread of the fire.
Currently, the fire of 20 private residential buildings on an area of about 2000 square meters has been localized. The tactical robot Magirus Wolf C1 was used to extinguish the fire, the State Emergency Service noted.
As of this morning, September 2, the forest fire has been localized over an estimated area of 1,200 hectares. Emergency workers are on duty near populated areas along the forest.
The State Emergency Service has deployed 50 rescuers and 11 units of equipment. The fire is still being extinguished, the department added.
