In the Russian city of Kemerovo, located in the south of Western Siberia, students from a local school were brought out to the school assembly to celebrate Knowledge Day with a sign that read “1st “Z” class.” In Russia, the letter Z is used to show support for the invasion of Ukraine.
The corresponding photo was published by Russian media.
At the same time, the school management, contacted by journalists, stated that they do not have a “Z” class, and suggested that the sign was a personal initiative of one of the teachers. They assured that the classes have the usual names based on the letters of the Russian alphabet.
It should be noted that soon after the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the leadership of the Kemerovo region began to write the name of the region as “KuZbass”.
However, subsequently this spelling began to be encountered less and less often, especially after the head of the region, Sergei Tsiviliev, left his post in May of this year.
