A Kazakh citizen has been arrested, planning an assassination attempt on the president and senior civil servants.
A foreign intelligence agent is detained in Kazakhstan, preparing for the assassination attempt on President Kasym Zhomart-Tokayev. This was reported by the local National Security Committee.
It was reported that on March 25, a citizen of Kazakhstan was detained in Nur-Sultan, who, as a foreign intelligence agent, was planning an assassination attempt on the president and senior government officials. According to investigators, he also planned terrorist attacks against members of the special and law enforcement agencies.
“As a result of the search, a sniper rifle made abroad with a silencer, narcotic drugs and large amounts of money was seized. The weapons were brought to Kazakhstan in part in a professionally disguised form,” the report said.
In addition, according to the National Security Committee, the detainee “promoted anti-Russian propaganda through publications on social networks.”
Earlier, Kazakhstan declared neutrality in the Russian Federation’s war against Ukraine. The country does not support both sides, and does not intend to send military and equipment into Ukrainian territory, the Defense Ministry said.
