The Israeli military found the bodies of six hostages taken by Hamas militants in tunnels under the Gaza Strip in October 2023. CNN reported this on Sunday, September 1.
Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said the hostages were killed shortly before the Israeli military reached them.
Among those killed was 23-year-old Israeli-American Hersh Goldberg-Polin. He was captured by militants at the Nova music festival on October 7.
The young man’s parents are among the most active families of the hostages. In fact, Gersh Goldberg-Paulin became one of the faces of the hostage crisis.
US President Joe Biden said the bodies were found near the southern Gaza city of Rafah.
The IDF also named five other hostages killed: Eden Yerushalmi, Carmel Gat, Almog Sarusi, Alexander Lobanov and Ori Danino. It is known that Lobanov is a citizen of Russia.
Earlier in August, the bodies of six executed hostages were also found in the Gaza Strip. They were all kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7, when Hamas militants attacked Israel.
