In September, volunteers will be selected and then special training will begin. The first classes are scheduled for October. Volunteers will be taught to conduct guerrilla warfare, they will study logistics and psychology.
As the journalists point out, the commandant’s office is an initiative of the Lithuanian authorities to involve the civilian population in the defense of the country. During wartime, commandant offices perform tasks such as fighting sabotage groups, protecting critical infrastructure, setting up roadblocks and monitoring the evacuation process.
