Biden refuses to send F-16 maintenance specialists to Ukraine – media

The United States hopes from European countries to solve the problem of serving these fighters.

US President Joe Biden’s administration has not allowed civilian contractors to be sent to Ukraine to service Western equipment, including F-16 fighter jets, because of threats to their safety. The Wall Street Journal reported it.

The National Security Council considered a proposal to send civilian contractors to Ukraine to maintain the equipment provided. However, US intelligence said it was too dangerous.

WSJ interlocutors said the United States hopes that European countries will accept most of the F-16’s maintenance obligations.

The media reported that several Pentagon officials advocated sending specialists to Ukraine, but Biden and his national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, expressed concern that the US Department of Defense did not have adequate response plans. in case the specialists are attacked by Russian aggressors.

The media believe that without American civilian contractors it will be difficult for Ukraine to maintain the maintenance of the F-16.

As you know, a day before the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported the loss of an F-16 and the death of the pilot. This happened while repelling a large-scale Russian air attack on August 26.
