Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, dismissed Mykola Oleshchuk from the post of commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The text of the corresponding decree was published on the president’s website today, August 30.
Later, Zelensky commented on Oleshchuk’s dismissal in his evening address.
I have decided to replace the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I am infinitely grateful to all our military pilots, engineers, soldiers of mobile fire groups, air defense crews. To all who really fight for Ukraine – for the result, – he noted. – And this is also necessary at the command level – we must strengthen. And take care of people. Take care of personnel. Take care of all our soldiers.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, has decided to appoint Anatoly Krivonozhko as the acting commander of the Air Force.
According to the order of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Anatoliy Nikolaevich Krivonozhko, commander of the air command “Center” of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, he has been admitted to the temporary performance of duties of the commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, – the message on the page of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine states.
Oleshchuk was appointed commander of the Air Force in August 2021.
