At a campaign rally, Vance commented on an incident during Trump’s recent visit to Arlington National Cemetery to mark the third anniversary of the terrorist attack in Kabul that killed 13 service members.
Trump visited a part of the cemetery known as Section 60, where veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are buried, The Washington Post writes.
During the visit, a “violent altercation” broke out between Trump campaign staff and a cemetery official, according to multiple reports. The dispute appeared to be over the fact that a Trump campaign photographer did not have permission to be there.
Harris’ campaign said the incident was “very sad” but “expected by the Trump team.”
Vance was very vocal about the event, not holding back his anger and again accusing Democrats of “attacking” Trump.
Kamala Harris is a disgrace. Three years ago, 13 brave, innocent Americans died, and they died because Kamala Harris refused to do her job and there was no investigation and no firing.
Harris is so asleep at the wheel that she doesn’t even want to investigate what happened and wants to yell at Donald Trump for coming there. She can go to hell,” Vance said, though he never explained why Trump’s representatives got into a fight with a cemetery security guard.
Later, after a barrage of criticism, Vance began to defend himself, explaining that he “gets angry sometimes.” At the same time, he still said his comments were “justified.”
Social media users did not ignore Vance’s latest scandalous speech and criticized him. Disapproving comments are heard from both Democrats and Republicans themselves, who are increasingly disappointed with Trump’s choice of his main partner in the presidential race.
The Biden administration and Congress have conducted several investigations into the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan. However, Vance chose not to mention this. Nor did he mention that the decision to withdraw from Afghanistan was first approved by Trump himself back in 2019.
