The head of the Ministry of Defense emphasized that Ukraine needs to strengthen its air defense, in particular, to create the so-called “air defense shield.”
The parties at the Ukraine-NATO Council meeting, held on Wednesday, August 28, discussed additional plans for the supply of air defense systems and missiles to Ukraine, as well as the creation of an air defense shield. Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced this on his Facebook page.
“I informed my partners about the current situation. We discussed additional plans for providing air defense systems and missiles for them,” said the minister.
He emphasized that Ukraine needs to strengthen its air defense.
“We are also continuing consultations, including bilateral formats, on the creation of an air defense shield – the so-called security belt in the western regions of the state,” Umerov added.
Umerov thanked his allies for their unwavering support and promised help.
“More and more allies support the lifting of restrictions on the use of long-range weapons for Ukraine’s self-defense within the framework of international law,” he said.
It should be noted that during the approaches to Kyiv on the night of August 26, up to ten enemy attack drones of the “shahed” type were shot down.
