More than 66 thousand women serve in the units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Most of them carry out dangerous combat missions.
Units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs received 1,170 women’s body armor from the Global Fund for Security Sector Reform. The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported this on Wednesday, August 28.
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Ekaterina Pavlichenko noted that for the first time, units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are receiving body armor adapted for women.
“The body armor is designed taking into account the anatomy of the female body. They consist of a durable armor plate combined with ballistic material, which provides the highest level of protection,” he explained.
The Deputy Chairman of the National Police of Ukraine Gennady Fedoryuk said that currently the department employs about 25% of women, who perform all necessary tasks on an equal basis with men.
Body armor with ballistic plates will be sent to the needs of the State Border Service, State Emergency Service, National Guard and National Police of Ukraine.
Earlier, the Ministry of Defense approved the second sample of female body armor. His exams lasted three months and took place in two stages.
