Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba discussed with Radoslaw Sikorski the possibility of shooting down missiles and drones over Ukraine.
As reported by the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting took place in the city of Olsztyn.
The heads of the Ukrainian and Polish Foreign Ministries agreed on further steps to ensure that Ukraine’s neighbors can intercept Russian missiles and drones in Ukrainian airspace from their territory. The Foreign Ministry did not provide any details on this matter.
In July, Polish Deputy Prime Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that Poland could not fulfill Kyiv’s demand to shoot down Russian missiles without a decision by the entire NATO – and there was no such consensus in the Alliance at that time.
Foreign Minister Kuleba said at the talks that the biggest problem Kyiv faces in the war with Russia is that its allies are afraid to increase support for Ukraine, fearing an escalation of the conflict.
In his assessment, “if fear of escalation had not been the main factor influencing the allies’ decisions, Ukraine would now be in a much better position and would have received the necessary weapons much earlier.”
Kuleba also touched upon the need to create a full-fledged Ukrainian school in Warsaw. He hopes for the support of Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski in this regard.
