The Kursk operation should show the partners the need to increase the supply of armed forces, explained Mikhail Podolyak.

Ukraine’s operation in the Kursk region should demonstrate to partners the need to increase the supply of armed forces to deter Russia’s advance. This is what the Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President (OP) of Ukraine Mikhail Podolyak said in a commentary on the YouTube channel RBC-Ukraine

According to him, the Kursk operation is a counter-offensive, and it will have a significant impact on the course of military operations on the entire front line, including the Donetsk direction. The breakthrough on the border forced the Russians to withdraw their combat units in several directions in Ukraine, with the exception of Donetsk.

“Of course, this is the direction of Zaporozhye, a little to the south, they are looking for an opportunity to bring some resources from the North Caucasus, the direction of Kaliningrad, but they continue to consider Donetsk as a main target in this case they continue pressure there,” added Podolyak.

The Russians in the direction of Pokrovsky send small groups of people – 10-20 – to carry out attacks, and some “slide away.” At the same time, the defense there could not be strengthened by bringing in additional soldiers, because this front line was narrow. There were also barrage detachments behind the Russians.

The enemy is focused on the direction of Pokrovsky because he believes that his successes there will have a propaganda effect on the citizens of the Russian Federation. Russia believes that if it strikes Ukraine and advances in the direction of Donetsk, it creates the impression that it has enough resources to freeze the war on its terms, Podolyak said.

At the same time, Ukraine is doing concrete things.

According to him, previously the partners believed that Russia, in any case, has more resources and will be able to put pressure on the front line. But now the operation in the Kursk region is changing the opinion of the allies on this matter.

Second, Ukraine is trying to find more opportunities to destroy enemy equipment concentrated in the direction of Donetsk, which requires appropriate tools, Podolyak said.

“And thirdly, we certainly understand Putin’s personal arrangement in this direction that he will act in this direction until the end, because this is the only thing that he can sell on the domestic market today to lower the shockingly shocking mood associated with Ukraine’s Kursk operation,” – Podolyak summarized.
