Latvia transferred another 20 cars to Ukraine that were confiscated for drunk driving

The vehicles are intended for military units of the National Guard of Ukraine, military units of the Ministry of Defense and other needs.

The Latvian government decided to transfer another 20 cars confiscated from drunk drivers to Ukraine free of charge. The total preliminary market value of vehicles transferred to Ukraine is 117,640 euros. Delfi reported it.

The vehicles are intended for military units of the National Guard of Ukraine, military units of the Ministry of Defense, the multidisciplinary hospital of the city of Dolina, Kalush district, Ivano-Frankivsk region, the main center of care health in the village of Pisochin, The Kharkov region, the military administration of the village of Vinogradovo, Kherson region, the administration of the Muzhkovka region, Kherson region, the village executive council of the Dnipropetrovsk region, the village military council of Malinovsky and the village of Kitaigorodsky, Khmelnitsky region.

As is known, in Latvia, for drunk driving, if the concentration of alcohol in the body exceeds 1.5 ppm, criminal responsibility is given and, in addition to a fine, the car is confiscated if it is owned of the guilty.

Let’s recall that at the beginning of 2023, the Seimas of Latvia supported changes to the law on supporting the civilian population of Ukraine, which created the grounds for the transfer of vehicles confiscated from drunk drivers to the ownership of Ukraine.

Last year, Latvia transferred more than 270 cars confiscated from drunk drivers in Ukraine, totaling 1 million euros.
