In Lviv, the city council banned the use of horses in the city center.
Lviv.Media reported this today, August 27
The members of the executive committee supported the decision to ban the presence of horses and ponies, as well as any activity involving their use, on the territory of the central part of Lviv. The first deputy mayor of Lviv, Andriy Moskalenko, noted that the working group will start working immediately, and the results of its activities will be promptly made public.
This decision was made after an incident with a horse that occurred in the center of Lviv yesterday, August 26.
Then, on Svobody Avenue, a horse fell, harnessed to a carriage that was carrying all comers along the streets of Lviv. The video of the incident was published on social networks and provoked a wave of indignation. In particular, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi earlier today on his Facebook page said that the city authorities were “working on this” and promised a “fair solution.”
The company “Karetny Dvor”, which conducts horse riding tours in Lviv, denied information about the inhumane use of animals and their excessive exploitation during hot weather.
An unpleasant incident occurred during an evening carriage ride. One of our horses, Luna, accidentally got tangled in the harness. In order to release her, we had to split the harness, which she had pinned down with her weight, which could have looked alarming on video, – stated in the “Carriage Yard”.
The company assured that on weekdays the horses went into town only at 17:00-18:00, when the heat subsided, and they always had water with them. “Karetny Dvor” also published a video with Luna to show that “the horse is healthy and full of strength, does not limp and feels great.”
