Today, August 27, Kyiv received 3,000 non-military bulletproof vests as charitable aid from the mayor’s office of its sister city of Brussels and the Brussels Saint-Pierre Hospital.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported this on his Telegram channel.
The bulletproof vests will protect the capital’s medical workers and emergency and utility service workers when providing assistance to victims of Russian attacks and when eliminating the consequences of shelling, Klitschko noted.
The bulletproof vests were handed over by the head of the economic and international relations department of the Brussels mayor’s office, Marie-France Bott, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belgium to Ukraine, Luc Jacobs.
We are grateful to Brussels and its mayor Philippe Close, who constantly supports and helps Kyiv and Ukraine. The partnership between our cities, which began in May 2022, has already brought many benefits. Brussels helps equip Kyiv medical institutions and train doctors. During the full-scale war, it has transferred humanitarian aid, equipment, and special vehicles to our city, Klitschko emphasized.
