The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrsky, received a new military rank.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky awarded Syrsky the rank of general. The head of state signed the corresponding decree No. 580 on August 23. Before that, the head of the Armed Forces of Ukraine held the military rank of colonel general. This was reported on August 24 by the president’s office.
In addition, new military ranks were awarded to other top military personnel.
In particular, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Anatoliy Bargilevich was awarded the rank of lieutenant general, and before that he was a major general. And the commander of the Joint Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Gnatov became a major general. Previously, he had the rank of brigadier general.
During the celebrations on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day in Kyiv, Zelensky awarded the Order of Freedom to boxer Oleksandr Usyk and fencer Olga Kharlan. And the 40th Tactical Aviation Brigade was given the honorary title “Ghost of Kyiv”.
Let us recall that on June 10, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Vadim Sukharevsky was appointed Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
