The government has decided to extend the preferential price for gas for Ukrainians.
On August 23, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to extend the special preferential price of gas for heat producers and household consumers. This decision will be valid until April 30, 2025, that is, until the end of the next heating season. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported this on Telegram.
The head of government also noted that the authorities are trying to restore the energy facilities damaged by Russia. He noted that there is a lot of work to do.
This winter will be very difficult. Despite repairs and restoration 24/7, we still have a lot of damaged energy facilities… We are doing everything possible to ensure that every Ukrainian home is light and warm this winter, he said at a government meeting.
As is known, in April the government extended the preferential price for gas until August 31 of this year. The preferential price for gas for the population is 7 UAH 96 kopecks, and for heat producers – 7 UAH 42 kopecks.
Let us recall that in 2024, utility tariffs for gas, heating and hot water will remain unchanged. But the National Bank of Ukraine believes that the difficult situation in the energy sector and the state budget will probably determine a gradual adjustment of tariffs in the coming years. From 2025, it is expected that tariffs will be brought “to their economically justified levels.”
