Unknown drones flew over a nuclear power plant in Germany.
Since August 8, drones have been recorded flying at high speed over the area of the shut-down nuclear power plant, liquefied natural gas terminal and chemical plants in Flensburg. One of the UAVs was flying at a speed of over 100 km/h. — the aircraft was spotted in the sky over the nuclear power plant late in the evening on August 20, the Bild newspaper reports.
The last such incident was recorded on August 22. After that, some of the Schleswig-Holstein police officers were put on alert.
The German intelligence services say that drones over Flensburg may be launched by Russian agents from ships in the North Sea. It is likely that the Russians are doing this for the purpose of sabotage. Experts believe that the drones flying were Orlan-10 with a range of 500-600 km and a speed of over 100 km/h.
According to Flensburg Senior Public Prosecutor Bernd Winterfeld, a preliminary investigation is underway “on suspicion of intelligence activities for the purpose of sabotage in connection with repeated drone flights over critical infrastructure facilities in Schleswig-Holstein.”
Recall that the media reported that the Russian government was preparing to assassinate Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger. The US notified Germany of the assassination attempt, and German intelligence services were able to protect Papperger and thwart the Russians’ plans.
