Two strategies concerning veterans will appear in Ukraine.
President Volodymyr Zelensky instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to approve the National Strategy for Veteran Policy and the Strategy for the Formation of a System for the Transition from Military Service to Civilian Life. The head of state announced this at the 7th annual international veterans forum “Ukraine. Veterans. Unity”.
The key meaning of such a policy is heroes. This is respect for the defenders, for the defenders of Ukraine, their protection, real support, effective, without bureaucracy and equally with respect, with the opportunity to further realize themselves for the sake of Ukraine and Ukrainians, for their own development, for the sake of their family, their community, our entire state, – he noted.
According to Zelensky, strategies are all documents that reflect all areas of interaction between the state and the veteran: from the initial steps of returning to civilian life to the veteran’s ability to “strengthen the life of the community, region, state.”
The government must urgently approve two strategies:
- a veterans policy strategy for the period up to 2030 and a plan of measures for its implementation;
- a strategy for the formation of a system of transition from military service to civilian life for the period up to 2032 and an action plan for its implementation.
The Cabinet of Ministers should also urgently work out the issues of establishing a consultative and analytical center, the “Unified Veteran Line.” This line should provide war veterans and their family members with information and consultative support.
Let us recall that on August 21, the Verkhovna Rada supported a bill on deferment from conscription during mobilization for citizens whose close relatives died or went missing while participating in military operations during martial law.
