Szijjártó said that negotiations are underway on guaranteed and balanced oil supply for Hungary in the long term.
Hungary is completing negotiations on supplying itself with oil after the transit of Russian Lukoil oil through Ukraine became more complicated. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó announced this on August 21, MTI reports.
He complained that the European Union did not want to help Hungary solve the problem of the transfer of Lukoil oil through Ukraine, which appeared “in violation of the Association Agreement.”
“Therefore, negotiations are now in full swing to secure oil supplies for Hungary in the long term and balance them, based on the fact that there are obstacles on the Ukrainian side, and the European Commission is not helping us,” said by Szijjártó.
According to him, these negotiations are “approaching the finish line” and thus “we will be able to guarantee oil supplies to Hungary for a long time, despite both the obstacles that have arisen from Kyiv and the lack of action by Brussels.”
Szijjártó assured that there are no problems with gas supply (also mainly from Russia) in Hungary, despite the conflict in the Kursk region, where the Sudzha gas distribution station is located.
We remind you that the Russian company Lukoil has stopped transporting oil to Hungary from the end of June 2024 after the National Security and Defense Council expanded the sanctions against it.
