The head of European diplomacy believes that lifting the ban, in particular, will help strengthen Ukrainian self-defense, because the Russian Federation will lose a “den” for attacks and shelling of cities and infrastructure of Ukraine.
European Union diplomacy chief Josep Borrell said lifting restrictions on Ukraine’s use of weapons donated by Western countries would help advance peace efforts. He wrote about it on platform X on Wednesday, August 21.
As the diplomat explained, the lifting of restrictions on the use of Western weapons against the Russians would allow:

strengthen Ukrainian self-defense, because the Russian Federation will lose a “den” for attacks and shelling of Ukrainian cities and infrastructure.

Borrell conveyed to Foreign Minister Dmitry Kulebi that the EU fully supports Ukraine’s fight against Russian aggression.
“I look forward to meeting him in Brussels and speaking with EU foreign and defense ministers next week to advance our support for Ukraine,” he said.

Earlier, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Defense Minister John Gealey decided to be open about the use of British weapons by Ukraine on Russian territory.
Also, US congressmen called on Kyiv to lift restrictions on strikes using American weapons on Russian territory.
