President Vladimir Zelensky intends to discuss with the representatives of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew the decision to ban the activities of the structures of the Russian Orthodox Church on the territory of Ukraine. The head of state announced this in a video message on Tuesday, August 20.
He recalled that today, August 20, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on spiritual freedom of Ukraine. This decision was previously discussed with members of the Council of Churches and Religious Organizations.
“And one of these days I will talk with the representatives of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew we will continue to strengthen Ukraine, our society,” the president said.
Let’s recall that on August 20, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law banning the activities of the Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) in Ukraine. This ban also applies to organizations associated with the Russian Orthodox Church, including the UOC MP.
