Funds are expected to be received under a loan agreement between the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Italian government.
PrJSC Ukrhydroenergo reported that the company is preparing to use EUR200 million, the receipt of which is expected under a loan agreement between the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Italian government.
It was noted that during the meeting of the General Director of Ukrenergo Igor Sirota with the Ambassador of Italy to Ukraine Carlo Formosa, the main topic was the discussion of the support of the Italian side for the continuation of Ukrainian hydropower within the framework of an agreement with loan between the EBRD and the Italian government, which provides for the allocation of EUR 200 million for the restoration of Ukrhydroenergo hydroelectric power stations damaged as a result of shelling .
Carlo Formosa confirmed Italy’s readiness to provide financial support to damaged Ukrainian hydroelectric power stations and pumped storage power plants.
“We understand the importance of specific infrastructure for Ukraine and admire the heroism of Ukraine’s energy workers who continue to work in the face of extraordinary challenges.
The company said the parties confirmed their desire to strengthen cooperation and identified priority areas for joint energy projects.
We remind you that the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has approved a loan under state guarantee in the amount of up to 200 million euros for Ukrhydroenergo. The loan consists of two parts: up to 150 million euros for the supply of critical equipment for the Dnieper and Sredneprovskaya hydroelectric power stations and up to 50 million euros for emergency liquidity support for Ukrhydroenergo. It is also known that the credit line will be divided into two tranches – up to 100 million euros each: one of them will be financed by the EBRD, the second – from the funds advanced by Italy.
