Russia has deployed more military forces in the Kursk region.
After the unexpected offensive by Ukraine, the Russian command probably redeployed troops from other directions of the front. In general, since August 6, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have advanced 10-25 km in the Kursk region, and the front is now 40 km. The UK Ministry of Defense reported this on the social network X.
It is noted that, despite the border forces and defense lines in the Kursk region, the Russians were not ready to respond to the assault forces of several Ukrainian battalions.
After initial confusion and disorganization, Russian forces deployed large numbers of troops to the region, including likely from other locations along the contact line, the intelligence agency said.
The British also point out that the Russians have also begun to build additional defensive positions in an attempt to prevent the Ukrainian Armed Forces from advancing.
As a reminder, as of August 15, the Defense Forces controlled 82 settlements in the Kursk region. Ukraine has already created the first military commandant’s office in this region, headed by Major General Eduard Moskalov.
