Yesterday, August 15, a Tu-22M strategic bomber crashed in the Irkutsk region of Russia.
The region’s governor, Igor Kobzev, said that one of the plane’s four pilots had died, Russian media reported.
One of the pilots could not be saved. This information is provided by the military command bodies of the Russian Defense Ministry, he noted.
According to him, work at the crash site continued all night. The remaining pilots suffered injuries of varying severity and were hospitalized.
Kobzev added that, according to the preliminary version, the cause of the plane crash was a “technical malfunction.”
Earlier, Russia stated that all four crew members managed to eject and that their lives were “not in danger.”
