Around 1917, military personnel and employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine were in Russian captivity.
More than 70% of Ukrainian military personnel, upon returning from captivity in Russia and after a rehabilitation course, continue to serve in the ranks of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. On Thursday, August 15, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Igor Klimenko said this at a briefing with representatives of the Ministry of Defense, Security Service of Ukraine, the Main Intelligence Directorate, the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, the Foreign Intelligence Service, and the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, according to the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The head of the department stressed that Ukraine should do everything to return all Ukrainian Heroes from enemy captivity, as well as everything possible for the complete rehabilitation and socialization of those returned.
“72% of our Heroes have returned to duty, we must do everything to ensure that they are socialized, we are opening rehabilitation centers who, due to health, cannot continue to serve, also receive the necessary assistance – the medical and psychological rehabilitation should work with them,” said Klimenko.
He added that 1,917 military personnel and employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are in captivity. The 1,368 captured heroes were the defenders who defended the Azovstal plant in Mariupol at the beginning of the full Russian invasion. 699 people have been released.
The issue of the return of Ukrainian citizens from Russian captivity was discussed at a meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief Headquarters.
Remind us that Lubinets also said that Ukraine received some information about the prisoners from the Russian side.
