The first fire-fighting ground robot in Ukraine has been approved for use in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This ground-based robotic fire extinguishing system is a mobile tracked platform with special equipment for supplying pressurized water or special foam to extinguish flames. The operator directs the work to the epicenter of the fire from a safe place, and the flow of liquid can be controlled remotely. This was reported on August 15 by the Ministry of Defense.
The firefighter works at a distance of up to 2 km from the operator in open terrain and up to 400 m in rough terrain. And the operator can see the fire extinguishing process on video.
The department reported that this system was initially developed for the needs of civilian emergency rescue services, but the military has become interested in the machine. They can use this work in areas where there are unexploded ordnance, in proximity to burning equipment, in which there is a risk of detonation of ammunition, as well as in other potentially dangerous cases.
Thanks to its tracked chassis, this firefighting robot can overcome difficult terrain, drive over burning debris, work in extreme temperatures and create a so-called “water wall” with the help of its water cannon.
Let us recall that in Donbass the Ukrainian Armed Forces introduced BAD.2 work dogs from the British company Brit Alliance into combat. These are compact, durable and maneuverable ground drones on four legs, led by the operator. They help to get to places where an aerial drone cannot reach.
