At an airport in South Korea, a dog is searching for bedbugs in the belongings of athletes and fans returning from the Olympic Games in Paris.
A beagle named Seko is the only dog in the country that can sniff out the scent of bedbugs. He works at Incheon International Airport, The Washington Post reports.
Seko can check a standard hotel room in less than two minutes. The team and the dog have been working at the airport since August 9 and will continue to check until September 8.
Information about the increase in bedbug numbers in French cities and Paris began to spread in the fall of 2023. At that time, videos of insects clearly visible on the seats of Parisian metro cars and on the backs of cinema seats were widely published on social networks.
It later emerged that panic over bedbugs had been artificially inflated by social media accounts linked to Russian disinformation efforts, Reuters reports.
