Russia is moving troops from its Baltic exclave of Kaliningrad to the Kursk region.
This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Lithuania Laurynas Kasciunas, who was in Kyiv on an official visit on August 13.
During a conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, he expressed respect for Ukraine’s “actions in the north” and said that no one is yet saying that “red lines” have been crossed.
In his opinion, the next good sign from partners would be permission to use long-range weapons: “We are lobbying for this, I am sure that we should do this.”
I say to the Lithuanian people: look how the Ukrainians are fighting for you, because because of their fight they [росії] “We need to withdraw troops from Kaliningrad. We even call it the “demilitarization” of Kaliningrad, which is happening thanks to the bravery of your military, your decisions,” he added.
Earlier it became known that Russia withdrew some troops from the south of Ukraine to its own territory against the backdrop of events in the Kursk region. This was reported by the representative of the operational-strategic group of troops “Tavria” Likhovoy. He said that it was a “relatively small” number.
