In exchange for a bribe of $500,000, the official promised the heads of state-owned enterprises in the Lviv-Volyn coal basin to freely move for use mining equipment from mines in the front-line region of the region Donetsk.
The Ukrainian Security Service has released intercepted conversations of those involved in a massive corruption scheme. Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Energy is suspected of organizing the scheme. The SBU press service reported this on Tuesday, August 13.
According to the case materials, in exchange for a bribe of 500 thousand dollars, the official, using his powers, promised the heads of state-owned enterprises in the Lviv-Volyn coal basin to freely move for use of mining equipment from front mines. -line region of the Donetsk region.
He was accompanied by three accomplices in illegal activities: a private energy entrepreneur, the head of an energy company from the Nikolaev region and the head of a mining company from the Donetsk region. From this mining plant the evacuation of equipment will begin after the organizer of the transaction receives part of the bribe.
The transfer of illegal benefits took place through recruited accomplices. However, this did not help the attackers.
The security service documented each of the “trenches” in turn. And as a result, law enforcement officials detained an official of the Ministry of Energy and three of his accomplices “in the act” after receiving part of the bribe.
The case refers to the unique and hard-to-get equipment from one of the state coal companies, located within the hottest direction of the eastern front – Pokrovsky.
Currently, preventive measures have been taken for all suspects.
For now, the pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
