These decisions have no effect on the negotiations with Malawi, Zambia and Mauritius. Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba recently visited these countries as part of his fourth tour of Africa.
The decisions of Mali and Niger to terminate diplomatic relations with Ukraine will not have a significant impact on the development of relations with African countries. This is what the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Georgy Tikhy, said in a briefing on Tuesday, August 13.
“It is a separate block of countries that acted as they decided to do, however, despite this, Ukraine is actively implementing the African strategy,” Tikhy explained.
The spokesperson emphasized that the decisions did not affect in any way the negotiations with Malawi, Zambia and Mauritius. Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba recently visited these countries as part of his fourth tour of Africa.
“We all understand that these countries, their connections with Russia, how much these countries rely on Russia. Of course, we understand that these decisions were made not only by these countries,” the spokesman of the Foreign Ministry .
It was previously reported that Mali and Niger announced the severing of diplomatic relations, accusing Ukraine of allegedly supporting Tuareg rebels who defeated a column of Mali’s military and Russian mercenaries of the Wagner PMC at the end of July.
We remind you that the transitional government of Mali is breaking diplomatic relations with Ukraine.
