Ukrainian defense forces have advanced deep into the Kursk border region, the Russian Ministry of Defense has admitted.
Russia has acknowledged that Ukrainian troops have advanced at least 30 km into its territory. This is Ukraine’s deepest and most significant advance since the counter-offensive in the fall of 2022, the BBC wrote on Sunday, August 11.
Russia’s Ministry of Defense said it prevented attempts by Ukrainian forces to enter the areas of the settlements of Tolpine and Obshchiy Kolodets in the Kursk region, located approximately 25 and 30 km from the border.
The publication calls this a clear acknowledgment that the Ukrainian Defense Forces have advanced deeper into the Kursk border region.
Footage published online and confirmed by the BBC also showed fighting near the village of Levshinka, about 25 kilometers from the border.
In Sumy, near the Kursk region, BBC correspondents witnessed a steady stream of armored personnel carriers and tanks moving towards Russia. Aerial photographs have also emerged showing how Ukrainian tanks are being used in battles on Russian territory.
We remind you that the Russians are building new defensive lines near the Kursk nuclear power plant. Ukrainian forces advanced to within 50 km of the facility.
According to AFP, thousands of Ukrainian troops are participating in a military operation in the Kursk region of Russia.
