The breach of the border in the Kursk region was modestly commented on in Washington.
Against the backdrop of what is happening in the border region of Russia, the United States of America maintains contact with Ukraine. The Americans are now trying to understand the essence of the strategy of the event on the territory of the aggressor country. This was stated by the White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby, Voice of America reports.
I think I will leave room here to allow Ukraine to talk about its military operations one way or another. We are in touch with our Ukrainian colleagues and working to better understand what they are doing, what their goals are, what their strategy is, he noted.
At the same time, Kirby did not want to characterize the situation in the Kursk region. He explained that it is necessary to wait until the Biden administration has a better idea of the events in the Kursk region.
The White House emphasized that the Ukrainian Armed Forces did not violate the restrictions that the United States imposed on strikes deep into Russian territory with American weapons. Kirby noted that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are using them in an area where cross-border strikes were previously permitted.
The end goal here is to help Ukraine defend itself, and we’ll just see what Ukraine says about that,” Kirby added.
Let us recall that on August 6, Russian propaganda reported an alleged border breach in the Kursk region. According to military experts, the Ukrainian military can already control more than 150 square kilometers of the aggressor country’s territory. The main events are unfolding in the area of the city of Sudzha, where the station through which Russian gas is transited to Europe is located.
