According to local residents, an ammunition depot was on fire and detonating. The Ministry of Emergency Situations confirmed the fact of the fire at the airport. Authorities declared a state of emergency and began evacuating residents of four communities located near the airport.
According to Governor Igor Artamonov, more than 400 houses fell in the evacuation zone. He also added that six people were injured as a result of the UAV attack in Lipetsk.
Temporary accommodation centers have been set up, and buses have arrived in evacuated villages. Emergency services and local authorities are on the scene.
“Some residents have decided not to leave their homes and hide in basements. In evacuated settlements, posts have been set up to protect homes and traffic inspection posts are located on roads , traffic is limited,” the head of the region added.
