According to the Republican presidential candidate, the agreement is “terrible” for Washington.
US presidential candidate Donald Trump congratulated Russian dictator Vladimir Putin on a prisoner exchange deal with Western countries. The Russian propaganda publication TASS reported this on Sunday, August 4.
“I want to congratulate Vladimir Putin on another good deal,” Trump told fans in Atlanta, Georgia.
At the same time, Trump said that this agreement is terrible for Washington.
“We’ve got our people back, but we’re making terrible, terrible deals,” Trump said.
Let’s remember that Trump has previously said that if he were president, he would achieve the release of the American people without releasing the Russian killer from prison.
We remind you that on August 1 a large-scale exchange of prisoners took place between the Russian Federation, Belarus, the USA and Germany. The exchange took place at Ankara airport. Washington has confirmed that three American citizens and a green card holder will return to the United States as part of a prisoner exchange agreement between Moscow and the West. US President Joe Biden said in his message that thanks to the agreement, 16 people were released from Russia, including five German citizens and seven Russians. He thanked the allies who supported the United States in the negotiations – Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Norway and Turkey. Biden added that his administration has brought home more than 70 Americans in total, many of whom were incarcerated before he took office.
