The debate could take place in Pennsylvania, one of the key states where victory will determine the fate of the election.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has agreed to debate his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, on September 4 at an event hosted by Fox News. This was reported by The New York Times on Saturday, August 3.
If it happens, it will be the second presidential debate this election cycle and the first between Trump and the new Democratic candidate, the newspaper said.
According to Trump’s post on his Truth Social page, the debate will take place at a location to be determined in Pennsylvania, one of the key states where victory will determine the fate of the election.
According to him, the debate on Fox News will be held in the presence of a live audience. The previous debate between President Joe Biden and Trump took place in an empty room. Although the campaigns have agreed on the format of the first debate, Trump has previously complained about the lack of an audience, the newspaper said.
Trump also said he was “absolutely ready to welcome” Harris as the new Democratic nominee.
However, it is not yet clear whether Harris agreed to the debate and its terms. Representatives for his campaign did not respond to requests for comment. Fox News also did not comment on this information.
Let’s remember that the day before, Trump expressed doubt that he needed a debate with Harris, since he seemed to be leading in the polls.
We remind you that yesterday Kamala Harris became the official candidate of the Democratic Party.
