The leader of the SPD, Saskia Esken, assures that the exchange of Russian spies and assassins for Russian “oppositionists” is a “victory of diplomacy.”
The exchange of prisoners between Russia, Germany and the United States indicates that “it is possible to negotiate with the aggressor country.” This is what the leader of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), Saskia Esken, said in an interview with ntv.
“It is a great success of diplomacy that today it became possible to free many Germans and other citizens of Western Europe and the West from Russia,” the politician is convinced.
According to him, the decision to release the killer Vadim Krasikov was “not easy,” but made it possible to “ensure freedom and safety for many people.”
“In any case, the agreement shows that it is possible to negotiate, enter into negotiations with the Russian state, even with the Russian aggressor, on issues where it also has its own interests,” the SPD leader assured.
Ultimately, the goal is to achieve peace, Esken is convinced, adding that it is necessary to create conditions in which Russia “will be ready to talk.”
We remind you that the exchange of 26 prisoners between Russia, Belarus and Western countries took place at Ankara airport.
