In 2024, utility tariffs for gas, heating and hot water will remain unchanged. However, the difficult situation in the energy sector and the state budget will probably determine a gradual adjustment of tariffs in the coming years. And from 2025, it is expected that tariffs will lead to their economically justified levels. This is stated in the new inflation report of the NBU.
Bankers note that a significant increase in energy prices to quickly eliminate imbalances in the energy sector will become a source of additional inflationary pressure and will require an increase in subsidies for the population. However, a delay in increasing tariffs, although it will lead to a lower level of inflation, will accumulate quasi-fiscal imbalances and worsen the financial condition of state energy companies.
Let us recall that from June 1 of this year, the formula for paying for electricity services for the population has changed and the tariff for consumption of more than 100 kW will increase by almost 80%. The real cost of one kilowatt-hour of electricity, according to him, is approximately 7 UAH 50 kopecks.
