A large exchange of prisoners between the United States and Russia took place with the active participation of the intelligence services of the Polish Republic. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced this on Thursday, August 1, on the X social network.
“The operation of the exchange of prisoners has just ended, within the framework of which the Russian opposition and citizens of NATO countries imprisoned on the territory of the Russian Federation left Russia. The operation was made possible thanks to the devotion of our state.”
Tusk thanked President Andrzej Duda and the Polish intelligence services “for their exemplary cooperation.”
Earlier, White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that the agreement between Russia and Western countries (including the United States and Germany) regarding the exchange of prisoners has nothing to do with the issue of the war in Ukraine.
