Ukraine is seeking to hold a second leaders’ summit, scheduled for November this year, to pave the way for an end to the conflict. This was said by the head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, Bloomberg reported on Thursday, August 1.
The organization of the summit was entrusted to Ermak, the media note. The bill aims to “achieve a just peace agreement after the first meeting in Switzerland in June failed to win over key countries in the Global South.”
“The most important expectation from the second summit is that it will develop the basic conditions for the cessation of hostilities. We need to end this war as soon as possible in order to achieve a just peace,” said Yermak.
He claims that the meeting will take place in a country in the Global South, most likely in the Middle East.
Ensuring China’s participation in this meeting is very important for Ukraine. Ermak called Beijing “a big player that really has the ability to influence Russia.”
