EU countries have untapped ways to restrict Russians from entering the Schengen zone, even if Budapest makes it easier to issue visas for them.

This was stated by Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis, LRT reports.
According to him, Lithuania has already asked the European Commission to evaluate Hungary’s decision.
The next step could be to find a regional solution. There are possibilities. Any EU country has the right to invite consultation on arrivals. In the sense that permission to enter the Schengen area will not be granted automatically, but consultations with other member states will be held on each of them, he explained.
This, of course, greatly limits the other side and burdens it with bureaucratic procedures, but I just want to say that there are certain options for a solution. Until now, they have not been used because no state has done so, – added the head of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry.
Let us recall that Hungary is making entry easier for Russians and Belarusians. Budapest has included them in the “national card” program, issued to all those wishing to work in the country for two years. Now there will be no security checks for them, reports the German publication RND.
Thus, Hungary has given Russians and Belarusians the opportunity to move freely to other EU countries, which is causing concern against the backdrop of the growth of Russian hybrid attacks on EU territory.
