Russia remains a member of the Council of Europe until September 2022, and complaints filed until then will be subject to ECtHR consideration.

The European Court of Human Rights may consider complaints against Russia until September 2022, when the decision of the Russian Federation to withdraw from the European Convention takes effect. Interfax-Ukraine writes about this in reference to the SCM press service.

“The Russian Federation is still a member of the Council of Europe and a party to the European Convention on Human Rights. The withdrawal of the country’s membership will not take effect until September 2022, if any. All complaints filed against Russia are valid and subject to the human rights consideration of the European Court of Justice, ”the company said.

It will be recalled that the owner of SCM Rinat Akhmetov filed a lawsuit against Russia with the ECHR due to the permission of the Ukrainian infrastructure. The losses of SCM’s businesses are estimated at $ 20 billion.
